Early life; converstion to Mormonism of his family in 1841; marriage to Sarah Ann Bishton, 1846; immigration to America, 1848; death of his wife Sarah Ann; arrival at Council Bluffs, Iowa; marriage to Emma Wright, 1850; arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, 1852; settlement in Pleasant Grove, Utah; call to settle in Cedar City, utah; description of the fort at Cedar City; marriage to Lette Bartelsen Black as a plural wife, 1856; settlement at Summit Creek, Utah, 1859; poineer life at Summit Creek; marriage to Thrine Bartelsen as a plural wife, 1861; home life in plural marriage.
